>Sukie, My statement about the vet and Galaxy was my vet, who has seen

Galaxy is not a USDA approved or proven preventative against distemper.
Why use something that has not been adequately tested and proven
effective when there are 2 USDA approved vaccines on the market? It
just doesn't make any sense to me.
>When my kits have to be done, I have to take the furvac or purvac with
>me to his place, and he will then use what I need to use to get into
>the AFA shows.
Purevax is only available to vets and cannot be purchased by laypeople.
Fervac is the only vaccine you can purchase and take to your vet. I
do this myself and it has worked very well for me for the last 6 years
or so.
>He chooses Galaxy due to personal experience and not wanting to see
>ferrets go though the horrible reactions.
I, personally would be more concerned about watching them go through
distemper from using a non-approved vaccine.
>Pet Store Kits come with one set of shots, second set of shots is due 3
>weeks later. So pretty much when you purchase your kit from a petstore
>they need a shot. If they have been in the pet store for awhile they
>are likely overdue.
Pet store kits come with a single distemper shot. They need vaccinated
at 8, 11, and 14 weeks of age with rabies given at 12 weeks of age. Petr
store kids need 2 more distemper shots and their rabies to be brought up
to date.
>Breeder kits usually get first set of shots about 8 weeks of age, second
>set of shots (or booster) is done 3 weeks later. Then rabies at 16
>weeks of age.
Again 3 distemper shots, not 2.
Not sure if you misspoke or if you really think that they only need two
shots. I want to make sure that if you didn't know that you got the
correct information.
