In all the years I've been owned by ferrets, and with all the ferrets
who have lived in my home, I've only had three that ever barked.  It's
a sound I've heard a total of four times.
 
It's only happened when the ferret was terribly startled by something.
In all honesty when I've heard it, I'm not sure who was more startled,
me or the ferret!  The last time the ferret and I startled each other at
the same time, and when Pebbles barked, I screamed, and my husband came
running.  It wasn't funny then (can you say heart attack!) but it's
hysterical looking back on it now :)
