As long as they are neutered or spayed, it does not matter what
combination of sexes you keep. Males are larger and get into less trouble
(IMHO).

Make SURE they can't get under/into the washer or dryer. MANY ferrets
escape by pulling the dryer vent hose off and escaping outside! REALLY! My
ferrets kept pulling the rubber belt off my washer until I put a wooden
barrier around the base.

Ferrets need at least 2' x 2' for one to two animals. An all wire
rabbit cage is fine. Ask you local pet shops about Safeguard Cages. they
make a really nice condo...
