Do you know one of those people who puts animals in dire circumstances
ahead of their own circumstances? Someone who has put other people in
need before self preservation? I do.
In my limited experience, it has seemed to me as though it is the less
fortunate that donate much more of a percentage of their net income to
helpless animals than the wealthy... especially to ferrets.
One such person has not been able to write on the FML for some time.
Things happened in her life that have been devastating on several
different levels.
But she still tends to a considerable number of ferrets that she has
taken in from rescues from the FML. I will understate it by saying that
it is a struggle. I do not know how she is doing it.
In fact, it was Lynn Siegel that sent her friend to pick up a large
number of the Layton Utah ferrets for distribution to other homes. He
drove without sleep for several days to help save those animals. Lynn
took in a large amount of them herself...more than most of us will ever,
ever have. It certainly changed her life.
Before all the unwanted, ill ferrets she took in, she actually had some
free time. She would spend it writing to people on the FML that had just
had a ferret die to console them. Or she would give advice to someone
with vet questions. The vets have been like a second home for her. "-)
I have seen the pictures of her housing for the ferrets, and of their
playground. It was like a Disney Land. I could only wish to have been
there with one of those ferrets: probably experiencing joy, security,
and love for the first time. She would write of their adventures off the
FML to the people she knew. Lynn Siegel is a ferret lover, through and
through ,in her writings and in the evidence of the photos I saw, and the
medical info she shared, vets she sought, animals she took in, shelters
she helped, and ferret causes she donated to.
Lynn Siegel is her name. She lives in Florida. Lynn and the weasel
war clan, or some such name was her e-mail for the years she would
occasionally write to be of help directly to the FML. Mostly, she was
behind the scenes ... helping numerous people quietely and privately.
I just wanted to honor her for her total sacrifice for animals. She is
one of those people we know who was behind the scenes on the FML for
years. She would mail me and others with items to give to the shelters
to sell. I met her through the FML when I was grieving over my ferrets
death. She wrote me to comfort me. Her words were from the heart. Her
genuinely dear heart and deep love of ferrets was palpable.
I want to honor Lynn now, today, please...if I may. I would like to make
her name known. Lynn Siegel.
Some think...too bad, spending thousands on food and vet care, and meds,
and surgeries for multiple abandoned, sick, older ferrets. And, what a
waste of time, E-mailing total strangers to comfort them. She deserves
what she gets.
I believe that God is already knitting angel wings for this lady...
someone who would be in much better shape right now if she had not taken
in all the traumatized ferrets she learned of through the FML; and if her
husband had not passed as he did.
Do you know her?
