Well, the tech was part right and part wrong. Obviously, Fervac is one
of the old Canine Distemper vaccines.
You probably have old references. The newest canine distemper vaccine
is the Merial Purevax Canine Distemper shot for ferrets. According to
testing and multiple vets it has the lowest rates of reactions by a LARGE
MARGIN. Your references probably pre-date this vaccine. There is a LOT
about it in both the archives of the FML and FHL.
Merial is also the maker of the ONE approved rabies vaccine for them:
IMRAB 3.
Just because the tech got confused on a point doesn't mean the vet will,
but it is always good to ask medical professionals questions. (Heck when
I had surgery years ago the resident goofed on my allergies and also put
down the wrong ovary to come out -- but I had written on my own abdomen
with a big food coloring X and the legend "X marks the spot" using a
cotton swab and mirror.)
BE SURE TO SEE THE VACCINE POST FROM DR. JERRY MURRAY NEAR THE BOTTOM OF
THE FHL.
