If that was to happen to one of my animals (I have 3 cats and a ferret
myself), I would immediately call the city and Animal Services since this
is considered animal cruelty.  Even an animal shelter can help.  Just
tell them what happened and something will be done.  I hope your little
shit-zu does well.  I had one myself when I was a child, but she passed
away due to a bad seizure.
