I too had an experience similar to this a few months ago.  My nephew was
in the other room squeaking one of the louder dog toys when he appeared
in my bedroom minutes later with the most solemn look on his face and
tiny puncture marks in his cheek.  I asked him, "Zach honey, what's
wrong,"  With his feelings hurt more than the wound on his cheek he
sobbed, "Dustbuster bit me."  Upon hearing this squeak toy, Dusty tore
across the room on to the chair and latched on to Zach's face.
 
There are alot of theories about this behavior.  Some say that it hurts
the ears of the ferrets yet not all of them respond this way.  Having
the ability to communicate with animals, I have learned that they are
responding as a protective instinct because they associate the sound with
a ferret being hurt.  Again, not all respond this way.  Some are more
protective than others I suppose.  Only two in my group respond to this
sound in that manner but that's my theory.
