I know that Dr. Cathy Johnson-Delaney has been ordering entire vials of
lupron (which is what Michelle is referring to) for numerous individuals.
However, this is a prescription medication and it is illegal (in
Washington state) for you to sell/give away a prescription medicine
to someone other than the person/animal it was prescribed for. When
reported to the Washington State Veterinary Board, the veterinarian's
license is at risk (for another infraction of state laws.)
The cost of Lupron *is* less than $9/100 mcgs for veterinarians **who
order by the vial**. It does take an hour or more of the veterinarians
(or someone at her clinic's) time, to dilute/compound and they should be
paid for this time, plus the cost of syringes & saline, plus a profit
markup. However, veterinarians charging $30 per does are marking up this
necessary medication to make quite a profit (appx. $1500.00) off one
vial of lupron. Someone set the price on this drug and now many vets
across the country are charging $30 or more per dose. Sounds like price
fixing to me.
