Since I have been posting the following on all the site that I post on
as well as adding it to articles I write for several magazines, I have
been contacted by several ferret rescues here in the UK who think it is
a great idea and they are now seeking charity status.
http://www.webspawner.com/users/ferretwelfare/index.html ;
The UK Charity Commissioners are appointed under the Charities Act 1993
principally to further the work of charities by giving advice and
information also checking for abuses.
Aims:- To give the public confidence in the integrity of charities.

This just goes to show that not all people running rescues and asking the
public to help them with expenses, are not asking the public to help them
with their hobby expenses.
To add a bit more to weather people are running a charity or a hobby I
requested the help from a friend of mine who works for the UK Inland
Revenue.
Inland Revenue
Anyone claming to be collecting money or goods for a charity, offering
a services such as boarding, doing charitable work with money collected
from the public, using services or goods collected from the public, at
events open to the public, whilst they are not registered with the
charity commission or as a small business, are in the eyes of the Inland
Revenue running a small business and should be registered for income tax
purposes.
The Inland Revenue would be greatly interested to hear from any member
of the public about anyone making such claims on
http://ww.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/ , so that they can take action against
these people in the recovery of any outstanding income tax.
Any businesses person offering such services as boarding of animals,
running displays of animals for monitory gain or competitions for
monitory gain whilst not being registered as a small business or as
registered charity can and will be taken to court by the inland revenue.
Whilst a small number of animals boarded for free or a small donation can
be looked on as part of someone's hobby, anyone advertising as a boarding
venue can and will be looked on as a small business.
