Since most, if not all ferrets need to have an adrenal gland removed
around 4-5 years old, would it be wise to have the surgery done "before"
they get sick?  (Like I've heard of some women having mastectomies
because they know that they are very high risk, so do it now, before they
get sick.)  I'm not really sure what an adrenal gland does, but if we
know that the ferrets have a better than 90% chance of getting cancer of
the adrenals then why not take them out when they are young and healthy?
Does this make sense to anyone else?  We could better budget for it too,
if it was a scheduled thing rather than an emergency thing.  I just am
wondering, having gone through it only once with my sweet Little Bit, if
it could be avoided in the future.
