Posting this for another party.
Lady in Clearwater area has 2 ferrets, 1-male, 1-female looking for new
home. Male is "raccoon" probably sable & female is "sand" could be tan
or cinnamon color, (I haven't seen them)
She said they are both healthy but she is "keeping up treatment for
'de-worming' them". I think she meant keeping them on heartworm
prevention. She said they are being kept either on porch or patio but
it is enclosed. I don't know if she means it is screened or is like an
additional room. If she means screened they have been out in some very
hot weather. She said she got them when they were approx 2-3 & they are
now about 4-5. This lady contacted me about a year ago wanting to give
them up as they were "too much" for her, but then said she loved them too
much to let them go. At this time due to personal bad health & a great
financial & personal loss I cannot take them in now.
Hopefully they should go to someone who knows how to recognize & deal
with depression due to abandonment just in case they are that way after
leaving their home of 2 yrs. Please realize that these are now "elderly"
ferrets & will soon no doubt be needing substantial vet care due to
adrenal & insulinoma & other health problems that come with elderly
ferrets. She does prefer they go to a private home.
If you feel you can provide for them please contact me & I will forward
all emails to her & let her contact you. Please don't criticize her in
any way, at least she knew who to contact to find them a home & didn't
put them in a dumpster like someone recently did down here. Which btw-
those 2 were rescued, got vet care, & are now in a shelter. They were
lucky. I don't know if she will include their cage or not, as far as I
know they are free to a good home.
