Or so says my husband. He has been fussing at me about my ferrets ever
since I spent $300 for adrenal surgery on my Little Bit (at the bridge).
He has been telling me that it's just me. "No one else would ever spend
that kind of money on an animal". (yea right). I've told him about the
$12m ferret that ended up at the bridge anyway and the great lengths that
ferret people go to save sick fuzzies. And how much we all spend and do
for our ferrets to make sure they're happy.
So anyway, last week he met more ferret people through his job as a
computer engineer. I keep my guys in a special room all their own, for
their safety. These people had free roam ferrets. He was under the desk
hooking up computer stuff and trying to run cable. Of course the ferrets
had to help. He couldn't understand why anyone would let "those damn
ferrets" run loose in the house. LOL. Poor hubby, he just doesn't get
it. He made the mistake of saying something about it, and he got the
full "ferret lover" response! (they didn't know I have ferrets). He was
treated to the history and joy of ferrets. They have one old girl that
they are trying to keep on this side of the bridge. She is really old,
although he couldn't remember exactly how old. She has insuloma and both
adrenal's removed. When they told him what it was costing them to keep
her alive he was astounded. When he got home he told me all about it,
and promised to stop complaining about the few dollars I spend for food,
litter and toys every month! Education is a wonderful thing. hahaha.
(just so no one worries, even though he isn't a "ferret person" he would
never hurt them. He watches them for me when I'm away and makes sure the
have food, water, and plenty of out time. He's the one who noticed
Brownie was not doing well with the heat at the beginning of summer).
So, there is hope for non-ferret types after all.
Shelley
