Mike and Rose, is Jen Morrison the person whose shelter you say you went
to? Where was the shelter located? According to zoning laws where
Morrison's condo is located, she is only allowed 6 ferrets. She was
fined on 5 zoning violations, the original count was 8 but reduced to 5.
If there are more than 6 ferrets at the condo, she is again in direct
violation of zoning regulations.
Morrison also represents herself as a medical professional and in related
dealings may be in violation of FEDERAL laws.
Jen Morrison has a history of accumulating large numbers of ferrets, more
than she can properly or financially care for and several in the ferret
community have delt directly with her on ferret issues.
Perhaps the shelter you adopted from is not the same as Jen Morrison.
When the confiscation in Sept 2001 occurred, the newspaper printed
articles about this issue. If you search the archives of the Standard
News (www.standard.net/standard/news/) you'll find the articles. The
ferret community dug deep into their pockets for this rescue and the
medical costs exceeded $10,000 and transportation exceeded $3,000 for 235
ferrets. I'd strongly suggest that anyone that wants to hear what the
Animal Control investigators had to say, request a copy of the tape of
the hearing. You will then hear that the stench in the condo was so
horrible that masks were needed before being able to remove the ferrets
from a sweltering hot condo with no air circulation and dark thick
coverings over the windows.
So as to you not finding evidence, you just haven't looked in the right
places. Reading the Standard News articles and ordering a tape of the
hearing my provide you with that evidence.
