She thinks that domestic ferrets seems to have a reduced sense of smell
compared to the polecats and half polecats (using US terms here with
"ferrets" for the domestics of any pelage versus wild polecats -- not
using these terms as pelage terms as sometimes is done in some
countries).  If there is any reduction perhaps the olfactory bulb may be
a place to look rather than the frontals.  (Of course, brain size alone
is a tricky thing since it is the number of connections which make much
of the difference and that is not size dependent except if talking in
marked terms about reductions of specific areas so among humans there
have been a number of geniuses who don't have large brains, while among
dogs the larger ones in a group aren't necessarily the brighter ones,
with it being more individual for many.)
