Okay, I know that the ferret community is on edge due to the MD rescue,
but today I heard of a case in which it sounds like the rumor mill may
be automatically assuming the worst of someone who is up against changes
in a local zoning law. I was asked to call and check on the situation
with the state by someone elsewhere who is involved in abuse rescues and
it turns out that this particular person not only has exactly the right
NJ permits but has been inspected and came through as having a truly
marvelous facility and great levels of care. The inspections were
outstanding -- the model of what such a facility should be like and how
it should be run.
Watch out for the rumor mill; it is USUALLY wrong, so verify, verify,
verify.
Yes, it is important to find out who is secretly abusive, but the rumor
mill twists things around so much that it is not a reputable source and
it can be (and all too often is) abusive to good people. Go for first
hand accounts!
