Greetings everyone.

If feels good to be back on the list, after having been off of it for
some time.

Sadly, my first post to the group is a sad one. We have just lost two
ferrets. One died of what *looks* to be old age (can't find anything
obviously wrong) and the other (blood sisters) morned herself to death.
She passed on last night at roughly midnight in my fiancee's arms. I
won't go into the details here, just did it for another list that was
helping and I really don't feel like doing it again.

I think, maybe one of the best things I could do is to, within the next
week or so, find my fiancee two more. But, we just spent our rent last
night at the emergency clinic in charlotte last night. So, I can't quite
go to a pet store. Does anyone know of anyone needing to place two young
ferrets in the Laurinburg, NC area ( or would be able to meet us within
an hour of Laurinburg )? We lost a black-eyed white and a sable, but I
think she might appreciate another black-eyed white (or even albino),
silver, or cinnimon, since she has juvenile macular degeneration and
can't tell our other two apart very well (no central vision). We have
plenty of ferret supplies and a roomy 5'X3'X2.5' custom cage with three
levels that breaks down almost completely for cleaning and we have an
entire room of the house devoted to them. Will send pics, and even a
description of how to build one, if anyone's interested and is concerned
about "a good home." We'll be at home all summer so we would easily be
able to ensure a good integration.

Also, has anyone ever heard of other animals picking up ferrety traits?
My cat, as a kitten, used to spend alot of time with our ferrets and
play with them(although he's kinda snobby towards them now) but will
occassionally do a war dance, tail stuck out but dropping straight down
an inch or two from the base, arch his back and jump like a ferret and
not get anywhere, and then shoot off like a shot.

Thank you
Raymond
