I recently had to move my ferrets to the basement of our home from their
own room (due to allergies and a new baby). I was very concerned about
them having a nice play area that was safe since the basement is
unfinished. We ended up getting the thin, inexpensive paneling that is
used in homes (popular in the seventies). We got two 8' x 4' panels and
cut each into four 2' x 4' panels. In order to save money at this point
in case it didn't work I duct taped the butted edges of the panels
together on both sides so that they all fold like an accordion in a
stack. The ferrets now have a play area that is 4' x 8' x 2' high. This
is definitely less expensive than using plexi and tape is holding up
extremely well. The only thing I have to watch out for is Pepe who is
quite tiny. She likes to climb to the top of the tent and throw herself
over the sides. The other four fuzzies just romp and play and watch me
do my crafts. We are going to expand it this summer to put in the garage
when I am gardening so that they are getting fresh air on warm days. I
hope this helped someone!
