Like others I find it annoying and insulting when others use my work
without permission, or apply my name to something I didn't write (not
copyright but something which is also illegal which a defunct website did
to multiple people years ago), but there is another thing which I have
had happen to me. I've had ferret things I posted wind up used without
permission and altered in small ways that impacted on the meaning and
then had whichever person who had that website attach one name (that
person's or mine) or both of our names to it. That, too, is theft and
copyright infringement, and it undermines reputations due to the changed
meanings. This aspect is one that I think hasn't appeared, yet in the
conversation. If it has, then you can feel free to remove this note,
Bill, rather than have me repeat the point. In a piece (which the author
has agreed can be used) it is only polite and most accurate to run
alterations past the writer before presenting the piece and depending on
how the re-writing is done those changes may need to appear in [ ] marks.
Want to check to see who is using your stuff without permission? If the
name or a variation is left on then you can use a search engine like
Google to do so. On my name and on two variants of my name (in quotes to
prevent accidental word combinations) I got 9 pages of URLs total, more
than a few of which are by folks who never bothered to ask permission
(though most DID ask and got permission). Yes, this is a very real
problem, as you can see from that number, and I am completely sure that
number of URLs is NOT in the least an unusual one for anyone who has
posted regularly. Name searching using Google is something I usually do
for other's names because I find it one useful way to find new academic
publications by people whose work I follow. Pubmed is also useful for
that.
BTW, those who have websites which link to my old resources page, please,
change to link people to the MUCH BETTER resources list in the critical
references links at http://www.ferretcongress.org . I wanted to take the
links (many too old to be useful) off my old page which I was given and
link folks there to the IFC page but between mis-recalling my password
and having my old service provider go bankrupt (changed addy) I can't
touch the danged thing. The IFC list is up to date and is more
inclusive.

That's a point, but that was over 30 years ago and I have no idea if they
used killed virus vaccines then or what. Today's vaccines like Purevax
which are used for ferrets contain only small segments of the virus so
that accidental infection is not possible from those segments.
Interesting points on titers! Thanks for the read and the offer to
provide more which I would appreciate.
