Hi all
Sorry it has been a while since my last update. There just don't seem to
be enough hours in the day to get it all done.
First there is some sad news. The oldest and sickest little boy had
to be helped over the bridge earlier this week. We had been concerned
that he was too far gone and unfortunately we were right :( He was not
responding to the meds and supportive care being given in hopes of
getting him strong enough for surgery. Necropsy showed that the disease
was just too advanced and the damage too extensive. Spike was the
perfect example of why waiting to treat adrenal disease is not a good
course of action. If we had gotten him say 6 months earlier of if his
owner had gotten him care when he first showed signs...his prognosis
would have been much brighter.
The 2 little girls had adrenal surgery Wed evening. Everything went
well and they are recovering very nicely. One was a straight adrenal
surgery. The other had a tumor removed off her messenteric lymph node
and adrenalectomy. The girls are super sweet and will be beautiful when
they aren't bald :)
I have two more surgery spots reserved for this coming week.
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to write and ask about
the ferrets. I also want to thank the generous souls who have lovingly
donated toward the medical care for these ferrets. So far you all have
given almost $600. I can't thank you enough or express just what a
difference your kindness has made. These ferrets would not be getting
care without you. I still need to raise around another $600 to pay for
the uncoming surgeries. I am going to try and get some auctions up on
e-bay to help with this. I will post the details when I get it all set
up. Thank you for your help and support:)
