As we all know we may be going into war very soon. This will affect all
of our lives in some way. What maybe we don't realize is, how it will
affect our pets lives.

Case in point. I got a call from a young man that will deployed overseas
next week, his wife will be deployed shortly afterwards. Their family
took in their cats, but no one wanted to take on the responsibility of
the 2 ferrets. He brought the ferrets to me Wednesday night, he was
visibly upset that he had to give up his very cared for and loved
companions. If you looked at Sox and Jinx you could tell they loved
their daddy very much also. I told him I would hold them for him, but
he said that things look bad and he may not be home for a very long time,
he wanted his friends to find a loving home and not have to sit and wait
for him to return home.

So now Jinx and Sox will be looking for a new forever home. They seem to
be doing ok, but when I look into Jinx's eyes I can see the confusion of
what has happened to his family.

Today I got another call from another young Air Force man, he is being
deployed soon, his orders are in. He has 4 ferrets that have to be
rehomed. Aging from 4 years to 2 years. He sounded very sad and upset
but needed to do his duty, and his furry friends have to lose their dad.

This is not to start a discussion on why people in the military should
not have pets, thats not for me to decide. I believe there are people
working 9 to 5's that should not own pets, but thats another story.

I wanted to write this post so you can see how the current events are
affecting not only humans but our beloved companions, our furry children.
Take a minute to stop you bashing, bickering and so on and think about
the Casuatities of War, our ferrets, our friends.

I wish Jinx and Sox's parents a safe return, and I thank them for
trusting me with their childern.

Hug your fuzzies tonight, you are all so very lucky to have to not give
them up for any reason.

Take care,
CJ
