Veronica: First off, I'm glad Bandit is ok. Scary stuff those vaccine
reactions.

Oh, yes! When our little Knuks (RIP) had her bad reaction to the CDV
vaccine, she was all laid out at the vet's with an IV, still looking like
hell (eyes just sunken little slits), yet she used all of her might to
crawl towards me. She just wanted me to hold her (which, of course, I
did).

Another time, when we were trying to integrate Cauliflower and he was
beating the heck out of every ferret who crossed his path, Balthazar had
gotten into a pretty good tussle with him. Afterwards, Bal climbed up
into my lap, curled up, and went to sleep. He always liked me to hold
him, but this was one of the few times he initiated it. I really miss
that little boy. We had a very special bond.

You can see how your ferrets recognize you and love you every day -- you
just have to pay attention to how they behave. Koosh is never one to
slow down and he doesn't like to be held ("What? You want me to sit
still?!"). Yet every day he runs to me, knowing that I'm going to pick
him up and pet him and scratch behind his ears and hug him like the
little teddy bear he is. Maybe it feels good to him physically to get
scratched behind the ears. But I don't think he likes it *that* much.
He wants the attention from me. He doesn't do this with strangers.
Well, he'll run up to them to sniff them and try to get up their pants
leg and such, but he's not looking to cuddle.
