Several years back, our halfway house was denied homeowner's insurance by
Liberty Mutual because of the ferrets.  I contacted the main office in
Hartford, CT and sent them quite a bit of information concerning ferrets,
ferret behavior, bite statistics, rabies (that was still an issue then).
They wrote back saying that they had a review of the policy and had taken
ferrets off the "prohibited" list, and so notified all of their agents of
the policy change.
