I am looking for people who would be willing to collect empty Ink Jet and
Laser Toner Cartridges to benefit ferret medical bills.

The Ferret Haven, in Louisville, KY focuses on taking in old or medically
compromised ferrets as well as finding adoptive homes for healthy
ferrets. People who know me are aware that the perfect ferret for me is
"blind, bald and 172 years old!!" It just happens to be something I can
do - where some people can't handle illness and what goes with it, my
heart really goes out to those who would otherwise sit in a shelter for
the remainder of their little lives, being deemed "unadoptable" and I'm
fortunate in that I can handle the medical stuff.

Here, they have a forever home, a forever mommy, medical care, their own
room, the same hands holding them & playing with them every day and they
know they are loved.

Needless to say, concentrating on this particular population creates more
than the average ferret medical bills. I do have a wonderful vet who
gives a generous discount - but still, I can have 3 adrenals, a mast cell
tumor and a 1 spleen all waiting their turn for surgery.

I have begun to collect Ink Jet & Laser Toner cartridges for which I am
paid cash. These are items that are often thrown in the trash, or mailed
back to the manufacturer for recycling purposes. If this is the case
with your cartridges at home, where you work, at your kids school, your
library, etc. and you would like to help ferrets in need without having
to open your wallet, please e-mail me directly for details.

Every little bit helps - Little "Pistacio" is just recovering from
surgery to amputate her tail due to a hideous tumor, paid for by ink
cartridges. She now sports a cute little "hamster tail" and doesn't
seem to miss the length at all.

If this program becomes suggessful, I will expand it by donating excess
funds collected to others in need of ferret medical assistance

Thanks everyone - and I am honored to be in line to recieve "The 3
Scrooges" from the rescues being transported from Michigan. To any
would-be drivers, Louisville is an easy 6 hour drive from the Chicago
area. If anyone knows more about what kind of experiments are done on
ferrets, and what can be done to prevent this in the future, I would
like to hear about it. Thank you so much, to whoever started this
process and negotiated the release of these ferrets.
