Hi everyone, Mark Prince here. As far as grief is concerned, we are
mammals and so are ferrets. They are as smart as an 8-12 year old child
and have more expressions of feelings then many of the humans I walk the
sidewalks of life with. If you don't believe in herbs then stop taking
33% of your western medicines (especially digoxin for heart problems.)
I have been a California Hospital Pharmacy technician since 1989 and am
currently in college here in San Diego getting my Master's degree in
Oriental Medicine. Comparing my acupuncture studies to the Herbal
Medicine Curriculum I am required to pass, the acupuncture part is a
snap! No one should be in favor of medicating people or animals in all
cases of depression since there are many causes of short term depression,
However I believe Mary Conley has spent alot of time in the study and use
of Herbal Medicines and has probably tried the flower essence remedy she
recommends with safe and effective results.
I think short term herbal or western medicine therapy for both ferrets
and people is a great and needed approach to health and better feelings,
and for the record, 8-12 Tylenol per day over an extended period of time
is a toxic dose. People have all sorts of opinions about health care;
Acupuncture does or doesn't work, Herbs are better then Western Medicine,
Chiropractic is better or worse then Western Medicine, Carbs. or No
Carb. diets etc. Don't throw the babies out with the bath water, and
find a knowledgeable herbalist and cross check their recommendations
with your favorite Veterinarian, and in my slightly educated opinion, by
all means consider short term herbal remedies for your fuzzies. And,
Warning! If you really don't believe in Herbal remedies for depression,
Never give Catnip to your Ferret's feline chew toy, as it will have no
effect! :)
bye for now. Mark, Peanut, and Yin-fu.
