Kris, people often warn regular ferret owners to have a nest egg for
ferret emergencies, but even people with only 2-10 ferrets can be short
of vet money at times.
In the case of shelters, it is surprising that some of the shelter
operators can eat and feed the ferrets after the huge expenses they incur
every month caring for the many ferrets who are dumped on them for one
reason or another. I think you must be new to this list if you don't
realize yet what a heartbreakingly huge number of unwanted ferrets our
shelters are caring for. I am going to send you a copy of the FML
Shelter List. It is only partially updated since August, but you will
definitely get an idea of the extent of the problems many of the shelters
face.
Blessings
Judith
