The January 11, 2003 "Science News", http://www.sciserv.org (though the
website typically has things after the print version) includes a report
about the reductions in funding created by Bush Appointee, Larry Small
for the Smithsonian and for the Front Royal facility which has been
important in helping save the Black Footed Ferret (different species than
our domestic ferrets).  It includes a photo of a gorgeous BFF with the
legend "EVICTION PENDING A report suggests private funding for the
Smithsonian home of this Black Footed Ferret".  The article provides an
update to past posts many have put here on the FML about the ways that
Larry Small is dismantling many aspects of the Smithsonian (which has
lost close to 30% of its curators and risks losing more as well as
facilities) under his thumb.  We will all have to let each other know
once they have a contribution plan available to maintain the Front Royal
facility and the Black Footed Ferrets there.
