In regards to the food, you will be aware that for both dogs and cats
that high protein food is available for both puppies and kittens, because
growing youngsters require a higher protein diet than adults.
It is well known that the protein levels contained within the food
designed for these youngsters is detrimental to the livers of elderly
animals. In regards to the major brands of ferret food, they are very
high in protein levels and ideal for growing kits but using the same
criteria as vets and the animal food manufactures, for dog and cat food I
do not think that such high protein food is necessary for adults and no
dought as dangerous to an elderly ferret as puppy food would be to a
"senior" dog.
I think that the price of most ferret foods is inhabitive to most owners
and their fore, rather than advocate the universal use of such foods I
would rather encourage its use only in growing kits where it is a useful
source of protein. To incrough owners to buy the branded ferret food for
all their animals is I think counterproductive.
Thank you
Tony
