Ok, here it is, in short.
 
Yes, we do have a problem with arguments getting out of hand on the list.
However, in my opinion, taking offense at imagined slights causes FAR
more of these arguments than do real insults.  Let's all try to be a
little more sensitive to meanings and a little less sensitive to words.
If you go looking for offense, chances are you're going to find it.
