Christy,
About a year ago, my vet recommended Oxyfresh Oral Hygiene Solution for
my ferrets. It goes in their water, and has no detectable odor or taste.
This stuff is wonderful! I use it for my cat and dog as well as the
ferrets, and it has made a world of difference in my dog's breath - from
really nasty to puppy breath! (I've since discovered that Oxyfresh is
recommended by many dog breeders.)
One of my ferrets has always suffered from excess tooth tartar and
recurring gingivitis, but he now very old and fragile, so the anesthesia
needed for a tooth scraping is no longer an option for him. Oxyfresh
keeps his gingivitis under control - without it, I think his teeth would
be a real problem for him.
Oxyfresh makes a great ear cleaner as well. I haven't seen Oxyfresh
products in any pet stores or pet product catalogs, but I order them
online directly from the company:
http://www.oxyfreshww.com/petcare/default.asp (I order the oral hygiene
solution by the gallon; it's cheaper that way.)
BTW, I'm not putting down Nolvadent Oral Solution, I just haven't tried
it. I suspect it would be fine to use for your ferrets. I do use
Nolvadent Otic Solution for my dog, and like it very much.
Nancy and critters
