Hi all!

I want to thank all the folks who attended the Forum at the Falls (lucky
people!) for voting my Demetri into the Calendar. This means so much to
me. I lost Demetri suddenly a week after submitting his photo to the
contest. I didn't post about it then because I had it in my head that I
didn't want to sway anyone with a sob story.

Demetri was my first ferret and I loved him with all my heart. He was at
least seven and a half years old. He chose me when he bit my chin at the
shelter where I adopted him all those years ago.

I lost him to a total urinary blockage. He had no adrenal symptoms so
this was a complete shock. I woke up one morning to him moaning and in
pain. I rushed him to the vet but I had to drop him off and run to work
for a couple of hours before going back. I got the call with the
diagnosis as I was already on my way back, and the options were to do a
p.u. or to give him peace. Demetri really made the choice for me. He
was cold and rigid with pain when I got there. It hurt so much to hear
him crying. Since he did so very poorly with surgery (he'd had adrenal
surgery a year and a half ago and had a very hard time post op) and was
in so much pain, I couldn't put him through a p.u. It was the hardest
decision I've ever had to make. I just wasn't ready for it.

Anyway, thank you again to the voters. I may be crying for Demetri
again, but there are happy tears in there too. I can't wait to get a
copy of the calendar!
