For those of you who are still finding it hard to understand why ferrets
continue to be illegal in CA, here's a story that may help you out.

In San Bernardino County there is a stretch of government land near
several freeways that has become an illegal dump site. The unsightly
footage of it on the news revealed old furniture, tires, used baby
diapers, cans of old paint (toxic?), etc. Someone (I don't know who)
wants to clean it up and build a youth sports center. Please keep in
mind this is California before reading on.

Not only will our government not let a youth sports center be built on
this land, the illegal dump site cannot be cleaned up as it may be a
habitat for an endangered FLY species! And they will probably spend
millions of dollars doing a study on this, I have no doubt.

Maybe we in CA are going about trying to legalize ferrets the wrong way.
If we were to transplant some of these flys and spread them around the
state, and if the endangered flies took a liking to ferret poop, then, at
least in my criminal mind, the illegal ferrets busily producing this poop
could not be removed.

The scary part of this scenario is, although ferrets can undoubtedly
manufacture enough fresh poop on a daily basis to keep the endangered
flies in fly heaven, the government would probably prohibit us from
disposing of ANY ferret poop, even when it's rock hard. I've got 7
producers and that is a very scary thought!!
