From your description I would suspect gastric ulcers and not esophageal
reflux problems. Since Luigi has not responded to just an antacid
(Pepcid) then it is time to add an antibiotic (Biaxin, +/- amoxicillin)
and Carafate to the treatment protocol. An easy to digest bland food
such as Hill's a/d or Gerber's baby food (chicken or turkey) will also
help. Some times it can take a long time for an ulcer to heal (4-8
weeks).

Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
