i get to go to ferretstock! yay! a new ferret acquaintance and her
other half is giving me and my other half a ride to the NH spectacular.
so much fun and excitement! the babies will stay home for the day, so
that they can invite FLO operatives over for clandestine meetings...

what do i call my ferrets? i use these phrases for both of them
regularly:

- don't you dare mister/missy!
- so help me...!
- no you don't mister/missy!
- you little sh*t! (reserved mostly for accidents left in the middle of
  the floor after a tantrum)

specific names include:

lucy furr (her full and proper name): lulu, lu, my little corn chip,
monkey girl, little princess, smart girl, good girl, li'l missy

gabriel: gabe, bad boy!, monkey boy, little freak, handsome, demon boy,
demon child, love monkey, the garbage man (he loves playing in paper
recycling and tipping trash cans), li'l mister

my falling in love with ferrets goes way back. in first grade (i'm 27
now), some animal people did an assembly at my school, and brought in
different animals for us to meet and learn about. before they brought
out the ferret, they announced it as "nature's answer to the slinky".
that had me very interested. then they brought out that cute little
face, and i was smitten!

ever since then, i'd wanted a ferret. after i graduated from college, i
was good and ready for one. for valentines day one year, my SO of now 10
years (at that point it was about 4.5), popped me in the car, and didn't
say where we were going. we were going to pick up ferrets to take home!
that's how lu and gabe came into our lives. my SO said, "i hope it's ok
that i've roped you into this long-term committment to parenthood. i
guess we'll *hafta* stay together, for the children, of course." ;D

go to ferretstock! it'll be fun! and leave some of the fuzzies home,
so that they can make it to the secret FLO meeting. raisins will be
served. :)
