Good for your friend to not give up the ferret!  I'm sure it was hard to
stand her ground.  At this point (although I know it's the wrong thing
to do and doesn't educate them on ferrets)  I think she should send it
to another home for quarantine and then just tell them that ooops - the
ferret escaped.
 
I thought they had a test that doesn't involve beheading the ferret.
 
Good lord, how people overreact.  Can you imagine if the put every cat or
dog that's clawed or snapped at a child to sleep?  The public would be up
in arms.
 
Please keep us updated on the ferret!
