Farewell to Sweet Pea
A rescue crowded, no room to spare
An open door, we'll squeeze her in somewhere.
No one to love her, the way it should be.
And it was Christmas time you see.
Couldn't turn this little one away.
Her illness we'd take it day by day.
Time passed by, she gathered strength
And my love for her knew no length.
To her last day, duck soup she'd eat.
At the end of her meal, her face she'd wipe neat.
Mom I'm not too hungry today.
I'm tired and need to be on my way.
Don't worry bout me, it'll be alright.
My new self, a shooting star in the night.
Time to snuggle. Mom I think I need a nap.
Curling in a blanky in my lap.
Squirming about finding a comfy place.
Resting her head on my hand, my neck or my face.
Sweet Pea is gone.
Her work on this plane is done.
Quietly in her sleep she went.
Her last moments with Elsie she spent.
With each fuzzy, a lesson learned
An exchange of love, given and earned.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers during Sweet Pea's last days.
