I can imagine this conversation is getting old. I tried to post
something a couple days ago but everything I post in the last 6 months
has been refused, so I am trying again...
[Moderator's note: Did you get any mesages back from the server? We
should figure out what happened. BIG]
Basically, I just wanted to congratulate June Franke, whoever this
individual is, for pointing out that the Verizon commercial was just
that, a commercial. By definition they are only trying to get you to buy
something. The only way to respond to this commercial then is to not buy
the product. Or, cancel if you already have. Anyway I seem to recall
this list finding the Budweiser ferret extremely funny, even though that
guy was actively encouraging young adults across the nation to
"party-hardy" with a fairly nasting tasty beer, responsibility be damned.
So, are you saying you would rather have a commercial depict ferrets
positively DESPITE the CONTENT of the commercial over one that uses an
inaccurate portrait of a ferret to sell a fairly "value-neutral" product?
Hmmm. 'Course, my vote would be to simply not have any commercials.
But, alas, that is not an option beyond PBS, which actually does have
commercials disguised as acknowledgements to corporate sponsors...
