Sounds like you have my Dodge!

Dodge is 6 months old and:
Weighs 4 pounds
Length 18 inches
Belly 11 inches (around)
Paws 1 1/2 inches (from back pad to end of longest toe - minus nail)
Head 6 inches

Dodge eats 8 & 1 Ultimate. When I first got him at the pet store at 7
weeks old I knew he would be big. His paws were HUGE! So, he would
either grow into them or he would just look funny :-) He grew in length
for some time but not too much on the weight until the last couple months.
We weight him about a month ago and he was almost 3 pounds....now he is 4
pounds.

He is my "big boy" and my football player. He gets a lot of exercise
(they are out about 5-7 hours a day) and eats "normally". He doesn't
seem to overeat or have problems because of his weight. He still plays
with his sister (who weighs almost 2 pounds) and loves to war dance.

Dodge is a silver. And a very dark one at that.

If you were feeding him food that was low in protein and fat then I
believe you would need to be concerned...but you are not. If he doesn't
get a lot of treats and seems healthy...then you shouldn't have anything
to worry about.

We did ferret-sit a while back for 4 ferrets. 3 were majorly overweight.
They had been receiving a lot of treats (beef jerky-human kind) and didn't
have much energy for anything...except to bite. Well, within 2 months,
they had lost some weight and were war dancing around. They also stayed
up longer and seemed happier about their abilities. Their weight loss was
do to not giving them so many treats and having them out to play more.
They were also eating Marshall farms food when they arrived but switched
to our food without a problem. These ferrets were between 1 and 3 years
old.
