(In response to the post about winning a million dollars and building a
ferret house)
 
This post made me smile, I've thought of the same thing (small world!).
One home dedicated to fuzzies could house so many ferrets!
 
I've thought of how cool it would be if there was a large ferret house
(in every state) that was set up solely for ferrets.  A couple could be
given free rent to provide part time ferret care.  Each ferret home would
have to be run by a volunteer board of directors who organized rescues,
the shelter, and the volunteers to help with ferret care.  Each state's
home would be connected as part of a national organization (like SOS,
NEFFER, etc) that educated, fundraises and worked on legal issues (like
all of what Alicia at Ferretwise manages to do independently!).  This
organization would also have vets on retainer that rotated his/her
services to the ferret homes in a few close states.  Hmmm, wouldn't it
be amazing?
 
Know what's really amazing - all the shelters run by people who haven't
won a million dollars.  All those individuals who dedicate so much of
their home, money, life, efforts and love to help ferrets.  Look at how
much they do every day!
