Hi folks:
Is it common for ferrets to suffer from allergies? My Phoebe appears
to. Whenever there's dust around, she starts to sneeze and develop
congestion. Whenever I open a window, especially in summer, same
reaction. A few weeks back I moved from a modern, air-conditioned
apartment to a musty old farmhouse, and within a few days Phoebe could
hardly breath, developed a severe upper respiratory infection, and even
after a course of antibiotics is still stuffed up, dizzy and lethargic.
When I brought up the possibility of allergies to the vet, he dismissed
it in a rather offhand fashion. Does anyone else have the same
experience? Is there an established treatment for allergies in ferrets?
I'd like Phoebe to enjoy her new home.
Kelly A.
