Nails and Age

Hello,
 
Do ferret's nails change with age or sickness?  In humans, nails can be
indicative of other problems, right?  Well, what about with ferrets?
Will they get brittle with age?  I'm just curious.  We just did nails
here (once every 3 weeks) and they're all normal.
