While I would not want to be the bearer of bad tidings, many low grade
biliary cystadenocarcinomas will have the appearance of benign cysts, but
will continue to grow and replace functional liver over time. Judging
from your description, I am worried about this possibility.

One way to track this without opening her up again would be to do an
ultrasound now and in a couple of months and compare the two to see if
there has been an increase in size.

Prednisone or adrenal disease do not cause the appearance of these
lesions. If this is indeed a low-grade malignancy, one would expect
growth over time, and eventually, if not complete excised, can result in
destruction of significant amounts of liver and ultimately liver failure.

with kindest regards,
Bruce Williams, DVM
