Hi Folks,
Just a note, and a copy of Verizon's answer to me. Thought you would
like it. Although I have to admit my original letter to them wasn't the
nicest.
Dear Jean Caputo Lee,
Thank you for directing your comments to the Office of the President.
I apologize for the distress the ferret commercial has caused you.
Our marketing and advertising departments are looking into the matter.
Your comments, along with comments from others, are being seriously
addressed.
We appreciate your interest in Verizon Wireless products and services.
Sincerely,
Chris

Mr. Tang: Does your company realize how many people out there will
believe your commercial? Hey, it was on TV so it must be true? How do
you think those infomercials make money? What irresponsible person came
up with the current ad featuring a ferret attacking a human? What person
in their right mind would authorize such an irresponsible type of
advertisement? Would you have done that featuring an Irish Setter? How
about a poodle? Do you realize the harm that commercial does? Is your
company going to help support the shelters that will end up with ferrets
because of your commercial? Trust me, I will post your address on the
shelter's site, and encourage people who find your company as
irresponsible as I do to email, fax, and write letters. I will also
encourage them to cancel Verizon'x service. Remember, word of mouth is
a powerful thing, it can make or break a company. The bad travels much
faster than the good. Your company owes ferret owners everywhere a
public apology on TV during prime time, on all stations. And to think we
nearly signed a contract with Verizon for our shelter. Your company's
advertising now disgusts me.
