My sister told me about an ad in her local newspaper for someone selling a
ferret. She called for more information, and the ferret (1.5 years old)
has never had any vaccinations - the owners were never told it should have
any. My question is, what precautions should be taken if I adopt this
ferret (I have three other ferrets--ages 5 and 6--in addition to cats and
a dog). If I don't get the ferret, a friend of mine might; he has no
other ferrets, but has cats and a dog. Is the risk to our other pets too
great to take a chance? Also, how many distemper shots would the ferret
need, and how far apart?
