Today is the first day that I have been able to try to catch up on my
mail.  I have spent all my time playing with the ferrets or taking care
of the lambs.
 
Amanda whatever you do, just please be honest and fair to Monty no matter
what you decide.  Only you can know what the true situation is in your
home so the advice is only as good as the situation is described.  It must
be nice to know that there are a lot of people who would like to help if
the situation gets out of control.  Someone on the list had a time frame
in taking the ferret in, please don't put limitations on the ferret and be
there if he needs a home.  I know there were many people willing to take
him and give him a good home but you never know who will be there if the
need arises.  It sounds like this ferret has already been through a lot.
And what he needs is a good home where he is loved by everyone that
touches his life every day he lives.  And maybe your SO will change the
more he learns about Monty and the more he learns the more he will like
and understand him.  Just be there for the ferret because he depends on
you to make all his life decisions for him.  And yes some things do need
a chance to makes sure it works or doesn't work.
 
I know that I have only had ferrets for a short amount of time but this
bit of advice comes from all the other animals that I have had that relied
on humans for their survival.  I have too been flamed here to and I
understand that responses are needed when someone doesn't understand the
situation.  But keeping it going and leaving the list is not good either.
Chalk it up to people not relating to each other.  And move on otherwise
is it unhealthy for everyone to dwell on it.  As long as you make sure
that you are doing the best you can for Monty that is all that matters.
If you know you can't do good for him or you think someone can do better
then hand him over to that person you think will give him a better life.
I am not telling you what to do because I have not even read all the posts
and chose not to because it is just a battle of words between people who
don't even know the whole story and cant explain the whole story.  All I
know is that you cant stay on a roller coaster forever without getting
sick.  And the more this is discussed them more it gets out of hand and
away from the original post.
 
JUST WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LEAVE THE LIST BECAUSE OF THIS.  THE KNOWLEDGE
HERE IS BETTER THAN ANY BOOK!  And there will always be someone here to
help in a crisis.
