I will stick my neck out here again for someone to take a whack at it.
Since that is what it feels like sometimes.
I am new with ferrets and looking for as much info as possible, I looked
at their website and signed up for some internet newsletter about ferrets
from them, received an email stating what was going on so I didn't go
ahead and order the magazine. Which I had thought about but wanted to see
the newsletter first. I figured I would wait. I have never received the
magazine so I don't know what I am missing. It might be a great magazine
but how great can it be if you don't get it.
I get all kinds of magazines about the
animals I have. I would be really disappointed if I didn't get my Western
Horseman or any others without a note explaining why.
Having owned my own business, I feel that it is my duty to make sure my
customers are happy, they are supporting me and my lifestyle. It would be
like someone coming to my farm and buying one of my dogs. I could take
them out, show them how they work and take their money. What do you think
that person is going to do when I put my dog which should be now his dog,
back in the kennel and tell him thanks, hope you enjoyed the dog.
Expecting him to buy the dog but not have him. I have sold dogs that I
expected to be paid for and some I took payments on that I had to go
after for payment. It works both ways, that's called business. Which is
basically the same thing here. I would be afraid that word of mouth flies
fast and pretty soon no one will be wanting any dog I had to matter how
good they are and that's motivation to run a good business for me. Not
to mention how fast someone might call the Better Business Bureau. This
is probably a pretty crappy comparison but it works for me. So no flames
please.
I am so sorry Lisette for the emails you received. It is scary to think
that there are people on this list that are so far off their rockers who
will blast you for your opinion. I will stand behind anyone who is
willing to stand up for themselves even though they will hear about it.
Its not right to sit back and let someone walk on you and I think the
magazine has taken advantage of you guys by not giving you any warning.
There are a lot of people out there that would love to have the experience
they could get from helping them and would do it for free just to be able
to say they did it is payment enough. Sometimes people who are in college
learning about that field are the best candidates because they are so
careful and don't want to mess up. I am sure a college in their area
would love the opportunity to have that option for teaching when ever it
arose. How many people on this list would love to do an article relating
to ferrets to put in the magazine and would be qualified to do it. If you
ask people for help that has to do with their interests, which I think
everyone on this lists are interested in ferrets. I think they would love
the opportunity. It might not be what the readers are expecting but there
could be an article in there from the owners explaining what is going on
too.
I belong to many lists regarding the animals I have and I thought my
Kelpie list was bad for flames but WOW! Right now there is a lady who
is getting all kinds of advice from experts in the Stockdog field from a
list so she can start her own magazine. She is getting all kinds of
helpful ideas and feedback. It is so amazing how far and who you can
reach with the Internet, "I cant" is not really an option anymore for some
things. I feel bad for BIG to have to baby-sit everyone to make sure they
behave.
