The downfall that I think would influence the average person the most is
the cost.  I have 3 little girls and have spent well over $3000 in the
past two years in vet bills alone.  That does not count food, housing,
boarding, etc.  I do it without question, but not everyone feels that
way.  If you don't have a budget for them, I would recommend thinking
twice to avoid heartbreak.
