Amanda,
How old is your ferret stomping son anyway? That's absolutely horrid
behavior for a child that is at an age who should know better. I'm not
flaming you honey. I wouldn't ever do that. I know what it's like to be
in that position with a significant other. I went through this with my
ex boyfriend. You as a human being have needs too and that is just as
important. I'm not ready to turn into an old maid with nothing in her
life but a lap full of weasels and I'm sure you're not either.

So first things first. Is it at all possible that your hubby will lighten
up? If he agreed to let you have ferrets to begin with, it's really
unfair of him to start complaining after you have a companion animal that
you are attached to. Is there a way you can arrange for you and Monty to
have your own special play area where he will be safe and your husband
won't have anything to gripe about? I'm sure this would be better for
both you and Monty than finding him a new home. Maybe if he had a
companion he would chill out a little. Explain this to your husband. I
really feel for you but don't let anyone flame you. Anyone of us could
one day find us in your position and it's easy to jump on the soapbox,
much harder to remain there with your feet firmly planted in the other
guy's shoes. If it comes down to finding a new home for Monty, I'm sure
the new humans would let you visit and you could stay in his life. Only
YOU know what is best for Monty. Feel free to contact me anytime you
need to talk.
