Dear Ferret Experts.

With all this talk about food, I was wondering what people think of
ZuPreem. When I first got Rocky at 2 mo. old (as a birthday gift) my
friend gave me a bag of 8-in-ultimate because that's what the woman at
PetCO told her they liked. He liked it well enough and seemed to be
thriving. When I tried the better quality 8-in-1 with more meat in it
he hated it. Then when I took in a rescue around Christmas, he stopped
eating. He lost a lot of weight and I thought he might be blocked so I
brought him to a vet. The vet said he seemed healthy and I should try
different foods. His receptionist, who has 15 ferrets, recommended
ZuPreem and he seems to like it.

She also recommend Purina One for kittens, but he wouldn't touch it.

I am reluctant to spend $20 to experiment with Totally Ferret or other
foods, since he seems to be fussy and it was so scary when he stopped
eating (he ate about 1 meal a day for 3 weeks). I think he was upset
about having the other ferret, but he also now hates his original food.

Is there any way to get small samples of foods? I don't mind spending the
extra money for better food, but everything comes in such big bags. Also,
now that he's back to normal eating, I'm reluctant to change. But for
future reference.

Also, I don't know what to do with the other foods; I have 2 big bags but
do not live near any shelters and don't have a car (live in NYC). Also
don't know if anyone wants these foods.

Thanks for any advice.

Sharon & Rocky
