Good luck to you CJ

Back in November I got a call about a baby ferret at the Petco in Sharon,
PA. Believe me it was awful. This little guy had a broken leg swallen
glands and was almost dead. He could not even lift up his head.

We asked the store manager if he would consider just letting us take him
and we would see to all his Vet Bills but he said no he can't do that. I
told him that this ferret was going to die if it didn't get help. Then I
asked how we could get him out of here and he said $99.95 so with that we
decided to put him on a credit card and just get him out of there. I know
bad idea and wrong move but I just couldn't let him die. That is when the
manager decided not to sell him to us. I guess he was worried about what
could happen if we got him.

After about an hour of pleading we left. I called the Humane Society
not sure what they did. I also went home and the next day called the
Headquarters for Petco. They called me back and said that the manager
said that the ferret was sick and came in like that so he was sending him
back. The lady that called me said no it didn't becasue she goes there
every day just to look at them. She said they had sold all his cage mates
and put new ones in with him and they were bigger than him and that is how
he got a broken leg. They malled and draged him around. I told the head
lady that but did no good. So I got on the internet and put out the word
to call the Headquaters, plus the local store where he was and plead on
behalf of this ferret. We had made up our minds that if we didn't get him
we were going to picket that store. One thing I knew they were not going
to send him back to Marshall Farms for they would kill him if he made it
there. Finally at 6 Pm that night they said to come and get him but he
was still $99.95 and that I had to sign a wavior which I did.

It was to late for a Vet so home we went I made him duck soup and he
started to eat a little. The next morning we took him to the Vet to find
he had a broken leg and swallen glands. He only weighed 8.4 oz and that
was it. Today he is a 5 month old healthy 2 & !/2 lb handsome boy named
Rocky. I just wish that we could somehow put a stop to pet shops selling
ferrets. I know this is long and I am sorry but needed to be shared hope.
I just pray you can get them to listen to reason.

Helen
