Sukie, did cat food in the seventies and early eighties have a vastly
different list of ingredients as today? Particularly the first five
ingredients. I was just wondering, because my ferrets sure were big and
healthy back then for being on such an "inadequate" diet. What was the
protein content, etc? I sure don't remember. And did people back then
also give their ferrets meats, and scraps on top of it? I didn't, but I
gave an array of treats through the day. If the ferret wanted a lick of
my milk, etc, I let him. I was nine, I didn't now any better.
I do remember a high amount of fitch mixed into many ferrets. I forget
why, but my mother surely suspected it way back then in some of the
ferrets sold at cheaper prices in tiny petstores, and flea markets in
South Jersey. I had forgotten all about that until you brought it up.
